Novell Enhances DR DOS 6.0 with "Business Update"
Strengthens Compatability with Windows 3.1
Free Update Provided to all Registered Users of DR DOS 6.0
MONTEREY, Calif., May 19, 1992 -- Novell, Desktop Systems Group has
introduced an update to its DR DOS 6.0 operating system that makes it
fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 3.1.
"Our customers want full Windows compatibility and our product delivers
it," said John Edwards, executive vice president, Novell, Desktop Systems
Group. "Novell is fully committed to making DR DOS a rock-solid
foundation--not only for Windows 3.1, but for every DOS application."
The update is being sent free of charge to all registered DR DOS users.
It is also available for downloading from CompuServe and America Online
via the DR forum and through the Desktop Systems Group's own bulletin
board: (408) 649-3443. Users who are not registered can obtain the
update by returning their registration card, or they may call (800)
274-4374 and register by phone.
"I've been running the new version of DR DOS under Windows 3.1 with
Microsoft Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project--all
without a hitch," said Al Hudson, a senior engineer with NCR in San Diego.
Hudson has been using DR DOS since 1988.
Z-Nix, Inc., (Pomona, Calif.) has bundled DR DOS 6.0 and Microsoft Windows
3.1 with its Super Mouse II and Cordless Super Mouse products. "We've
been testing the two products from top to bottom for a month now, and have
uncovered no incompatibilities," said C.J. D'Angelo, vice president of
sales. "We are confident our OEMs and end users will be equally
successful."
DR DOS 6.0 is the most advanced DOS in the industry, offering more memory
to run applications, increased disk capacity through built-in compression
technology, and a high-performance disk cache. DR DOS 6.0 is fully
compatible with Microsoft Windows 3.0 and 3.1.
Novell, Inc. (NASDAQ: NOVL) is an operating system software company, the
